Spring Seedings
Spring Seedings
We prefer to seed in the fall and only seed in the spring if absolutely necessary. One major reason for spring seeding includes a heavy leaf drop in the fall that would smother the new grass. Spring seedings are a challenging process in that the broadleaf and grassy weeds infiltrate and create a mess. Additionally watering is a major component to get the young grass through summer. A short time without a watering can kill the new grass in the summer.
Fall Seedings
This is THE BEST time to seed our cool season grasses. The high soil temperature from the summer and watering create an excellent germination process. Then as the temperatures cool in the fall, the grasses thrive.
We offer several 3 methods of seeding:
Power Seeding This is THE BEST method of seeding. The power seeder slices the soil and lays the seed down. Direct soil-to-seed contact. 90% plus germination if watered properly.
Aeration and Overseeding an aeration can also be accompanied by an overseeding for added seed germination with SOME direct soil-to-seed contact.
Overseeding simply spreading seed. This method is great when accompanied with a topdressing to increase soil to seed contact.
